World Champion Trevor Brazile Looking to Defend his 2007 Tucson Tie-Down Title

(Tucson, Ariz.) -- Barrel racers completed their first round this morning and steer wrestlers and ropers started round two. All timed events will complete round two on Saturday, Feb. 23. The 12 best aggregate times will advance to the Finals on Sunday, Feb. 24.

Trevor Brazile clocked a 9.6 today in tie-down roping placing him third in the aggregate with a 19.5 on two head. Fans are hoping his time will hold up in the top 12 so they can see him take the Tucson title for a second consecutive year. In 2007, Brazile won Tucson with a 30.6 second total on three head.

The Mike Cervi Jr. Memorial Team Roping is the feature event Wednesday, Feb. 20 at noon. One hundred teams will compete in a non-sanctioned event which pays over $45,000 to the winning team.

Wednesday’s line-up begins with barrel racing slack at 8 a.m. followed by a Gold Card Team Roping (ages 50-plus) at 10 a.m.

Admission is $10 at the gate with proceeds donated to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund; parking is free.

The Tucson Rodeo resumes Thursday, Feb. 21 at 12:30 p.m. with a full line of events and entertainment.
